Fitness Classes Schedule

Winter Fitness Classes are scheduled for both Abbotsford and Chilliwack campus. Classes run January 15 – April 10, 2018. Classes will not run on Stat holidays (Feb 12, March 30 and April 2).

UFV Students are able to attend fitness classes on both the Abbotsford and Chilliwack campus FREE of charge when presenting their UFV Campus Card to the instructor or Fitness Greeter.  All participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to participating in a class.

It is also important to let the fitness instructor know if you are new to group exercise, suffering from any health conditions or recovering from injury. Being more active is very safe for most people. However, some people should check with their doctor before they start becoming much more physically active. If you would like to know if you should check with your doctor before joining a fitness class please click here.

How to get involved:

  • STUDENTS: We ask that you RSVP on MyCampusLife-Campus Recreation to reserve their spot in a Fitness Class.

FIT START
Fit start your workout routine! Developed for those who are new to fitness or want to get back to into a fitness routine. Exercises are designed so participants can work at their own level and gain the confidence to feel comfortable in the gym or any of our other fitness classes. Towel and water bottle recommended. TACTICAL FITNESS
Build strength and stamina to be physically ready for what life throws at you. Maybe it’s a few punches or the desire to improve your personal and physical wellbeing. Learn the moves and go through the drills and exercises of tactical professionals, like law enforcement, fire, and other emergency service personal.

RE-ACTIVATE
This 20-min class will focus on a mind-body connection to ACTIVATE the larger muscle groups (glutes, core, hip flexor, back, etc) so smaller muscle groups can do their job. This will help alleviate the negative effects of sitting or improve posture, as you learn ways to activate and stretch different muscle groups to prevent or reduce pain or injuries. A great break between classes or a ‘warm up’ for the class that follows. Suitable for all levels. Yoga mat and water bottle recommended.

DANCE FIT
The first half of the class will be a fun, cardio dance workout in easy to follow format incorporating many different dance styles, followed by exercises focusing on the core/legs/glutes influenced by the Barre-style format; Suitable for all levels, no dance experience required. Yoga/fitness mat required for core/leg/glute exercises; towel and water bottle recommended.
20 min. class (on Wednesdays) will focus on a cardio dance workout.

BELLY DANCE FITNESS
Based on authentic belly dance movement, but kicked up a notch for the purpose of a good ole-fashioned workout. This is an all-levels class working on breaking down each move and doing repetition drills with gradual addition of new moves, allowing everyone to feel successful as we get our groove on! Wear comfortable workout clothing and athletic shoes.
